Day 16-23

Well howdy everyone.  Sorry for those of you who were expecting a blog on Sunday, I was wore out from the awesome day that we had....  so I will blog next week.  Just kidding with y'all.

So the week went well for the most part.  I ended up throwing a disc out in my back which pushed a rib out or something along those lines.  My loving fiance set up an appointment to get it fixed.  Man I love this woman.  God is so awesome to create people who care and look out for one another.  The week progressed normally other than that.  I had another class, Tanya saved more people at work.  The norm.  Lol.  Well, we have our engagement photos this Saturday, which it is supposed to rain, so please pray that God decides there should not be any water falling from the heavens on Saturday or at least until I can get Tanya into some shelter.  We are really excited for that.  God continues to guide us in our walk with Him and He is teaching both of us some really cool things.  We have picked up a couple of books to read.  Tanya is reading For Women Only and I am reading For Men Only.  We are going through them as they are Christ centered books that look into how men and women differ in their thoughts and actions.  This way we can better understand each other and serve each other better.  Tanya brought up the idea which I know many of you may be surprised as I am a huge bookworm.  I think I have read around 3 books since High School.  Really, it is more like 4-5 but she has this awesome heart to seek out my heart and wants to learn everything there is and I LOVE it!!!  We are having great conversations about the how and why of who we are and why we think and act certain ways... it is awesome.

We have HUGE wedding news as Tanya has found her wedding dress. It is beautiful and the colors are amazing and set her gorgeous eyes off.  The train resembles.... actually I have no clue what I am talking about.  Tanya had a girls day and went to look at dresses with some of her close friends that were not working, living 15,032 miles away, or saving the world from attacks and located the perfect dress.  Of course, as many of you who know Tanya, would know that the dress is on sale.  Sales follow Tanya and create themselves to be around Tanya.  It is wonderful.  I believe that the bridesmaids dresses have also been located.  We are cruising along in our wedding preparations.  My grandmother living here in Ohio is researching wedding cakes for both design and cost and all that good stuff.  Debra, my mother, is working on the centerpieces and I get to hear new ideas almost every night.  We are working on honeymoon plans and are really excited about those.  We have our eye on a couple places but have not landed on a decision just yet.

On Sunday we got to hear Pastor Connie preach about parenting and the raising of children.  It is like a golden nugget every time we get to hear him preach.  We had a great conversation about our expectations and a couple  of different things we would do in raising our children.  Then we headed to Bob Hartenstein's (sp?) class to hear him talk and it was just like he was talking to us.  He covered topics that we have been talking about and where we think that God would like us to be.  It was just great to hear everyone in the class.  After we went to Max and Erma's for lunch with Mom and Dad and Grandma and Grandpa.  The conversation was based around fantasy football and wedding stuff.  For anyone who does not know, we as family have a league that is headed by my sister, Flu Flu.  It is just a family league with Dad, Grandpa, Megan, Tanya, Bryan (Megan's husband), Kyle (Bryan's brother), Chuck, and myself and none of us are competitive... lol ok maybe we are.  After lunch we headed over to Sycamore Creek Country Club to look at their facilities for a rehearsal dinner and ding ding ding we found a winner.  It has a large room with a fireplace and is in a setting that will be intimate and cozy.  The food I hear is pretty good although I think we might want to make sure for the other guests.  From there we left and Tanya raided, (by my asking), my closet and cleaned house.  She tossed things that were too small, completely outdated, goofy, and things that I should never wear.  This also created a problem... We have engagement photos on Saturday and my closet is now half the size.  Tanya took me shopping and she picked out a new outfit for the photos.  Man this woman steals my heart and warms it with every breath she takes.  She serves to no end.  I am so blessed.  I will post pictures as soon as I get a digital copy from Kort.  We are both very excited and have a couple of pictures that we would like.  If anyone has any ideas we would love to hear them.  We both kind of just go with the flow and we would love some direction.

In other news Tanya has allowed me to build a room in the garage for my lathe and woodworking.  My grandfather is going to help me build it, hopefully this week.  I have already order chisels, I have to some wood for a special project that I might need some ideas on, and wouldn't you know it, the company selling the lathe that I was going to wait until Friday to order was selected as the only lathe.... that was on sale for today only.  Wow God continues to bless His children.  So, it is ordered and I just have to wait until it is delivered, hopefully Friday, until I can set it up and start working on my secret project.

I know I am missing some important stuff to let you all know about but I can not think of it.  Sorry, but this will have to do for now.  Please keep us in your prayers as we continue this process.  Pray for us to continue to grow closer to Christ and that we can represent Him in every aspect of our lives.  Pray that He will continue to bind our hearts together.  Pray for the many people that are so graciously offering their services to help us Jennifer Hart, Amy Pricey, Grandma, Grandpa, Angie and her husband, my parents, Sherri, Megan and everyone that is continuing to pray for us.  I am sorry if I did not mention you by name but know we are very grateful for your help and prayers.  Pray most of all that people will be able to see Christ in what we do and that we can point the to the One who created us and extends His hands to each and every person.

Day 12-15

Hello everyone.  Thank you for those of you have given feedback.

First off I forgot to tell everyone that we have decided to have Pastor Connie do the ceremony and to do the premarital counseling.  We are excited to get things rolling and become one.  God has gifted us in so many ways it is incredible.  This weekend we went to go watch the University of Michigan kick Minnesota 58-0 at the Big House.  This was Tanya's first big college game and it was great.  The weather was a little chilly to start but we had stopped by the M Den (a tradition in our family) and had picked up a Michigan sweatshirt so Tanya could stay warm.  Tanya got to meet Dean and Kathy Bergy, long time friends of the family.  Dean is Dad's best friend from high school.  It was great to have her meet them and to watch the boys in blue.  Her response to the game "I could really become a Michigan fan!"  Words that just warm my heart.  After the game we left went to Colby and Sarah Keefer's home 8 miles away.  Colby and Sarah work for AIA (Athletes in Action) at the UofM and had prepared a meal for us so that we could catch up.  Colby headed up AIA at the University of Dayton when I attended and Sarah was Tanya's mentor when she went to the University of Dayton.  It was great to see what God has been doing in their lives and to be able to wrestle with their kids.  Yes I said wrestle and no I did not start it... I just finished it.  No it was great though as we got to just sit and chat in between wrestling about life and where God was leading them.  From The Keefer's house we left to go see/meet Grandma Ghysels in GR (Grand Rapids).  They have Art Prize going on in GR and she was helping to run a venue at The Womens Club off of Fulton.

After meeting with her we dropped Aunt K off and had dinner at Grandma's house.  We sat up and talked for a little but I was a little tired and called it a night.  At 9:00 am prompt Grandma called down in the basement and woke me up and we got to chat a little.  Well Tanya and Grandma chatted about medical stuff while I took a shower and then we headed out to Arnie's.  If you have never been there, put it on your bucket list.  If you want the address or info please just let me know and I would be happy to give it to you.  We had a wonderful meal there and then headed to the Womens Club.  Grandma had to work so she showed us the displays at the Club and then we walked around town for a little checking out a few venues before our trip home.  Art Prize was wonderful.  We began our long journey home and we have been going through a book called "100 questions to ask before you say I do"  Great book bringing up a lot of topics that a couple should go through before they walk down the isle.  We had wonderful conversation about family, each other, how to better serve each other, and many other topics.  We arrived back in Ohio and I have to say that my buckets are overflowing.  Tanya you have filled my buckets up so much this weekend I cannot thank you enough.  I look forward to serving you and walking with you every day.

Wedding stuff.  I know you guys are wondering what plans we have been working on and I am sorry for rambling on but it was just such a great weekend I had to share.  We are working on Bridal Showers as there are many people wanting to support us (Tanya especially as she will need lots of support since she will be stuck with me ... :-D)  We do not have anything set in stone other than we know we want to meet with everyone before the wedding.  Sorry guys.  If you have any ideas or would like to have any input please let us know.  We want everyone to be apart of this wedding where we have come up with a theme for.  The theme is... Well I think I should hold off on telling you that for at least another couple days.  We are having engagement photos done on October 15th if I have forgotten to tell you so I should have those uploaded shortly after.

I may have missed something but I am trying not to repeat myself.  We would like to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers as we continue to follow Christ in His great plan.  We welcome any thoughts or ideas.

Love

Day 1-11

First off, I would like to thank everyone for being in our lives and helping us through every step.  We are so grateful that God has put you all in our lives.  I will be keeping a blog for anyone who would like to follow all the steps or just curious what we are doing.  I will do my best to update it twice a week for the remaining 164 days until I take Tanya Lynn to be my bride.... and then y'all are on your own.  I may word vomit at times or forget people or things that happened that day, please forgive me.  This is my first time blogging.

This is our story.  I apologize for being so late.  God is amazing and He continues to shine all around us.  As for how we got started you will have to check out our story on the website.  For all that has happened since then I will try to catch you up.  I will tell the story of how I asked her in a later blog so please bare with me.  From day 1 Christ has been guiding us to which venue to pick to colors to invitations.  I will spare all of the long drawn out stories I normally have but we will be married in the Collier Chapel.  The Collier Chapel was built in I believe 1850 ish and has beautiful stain glass windows and heating don't worry ladies.  Debra aka the bomb mom aka my mommy will be doing all decorations for the wedding both the ceremony and the reception.  The color is navy blue.  Any decorating questions or comments should be directed to her.  If you wish to make comments on here I would be more than happy to relay them to her.  From the Collier Chapel we will be heading over to the Schindler Banquet Hall to have to reception.  There will be food for all there, although what exactly is just to be determined.  We will have music so if you have a song you would like played please request it on the wedding website so we can make sure it makes it into the play list (please remember this is a celebration and that songs must be child appropriate).

I have selected my best man and groomsmen,  Chuck will be standing as my best man.  The one who has known me since I was a wee one and we got into more trouble together in those days than I care to admit.  He will stand and fight for my marriage as a brother but also as a brother who knows that Christ is at the  center of the relationship.  Bryan will be standing in as one of my groomsmen.  Bryan started dating Flu Flu aka Megan and I was forced to meet him as it was my duty to make sure anyone that was around her was to treat her the right way.  After the first handshake I would have to call him one of my best friends and can bounce ideas and ideas relating to Christ off of him.  Tim will also be standing up for me.  I met Tim when we were getting ready for football practice in middle school and he has been  by my side ever since.  We lived together for a while and have conquered many things including West Virginia's white waters many football teams and friendships.  Puddy aka Josh will be standing for me.  Josh has been around since the soccer days where I use to call him the kid with red hair and red shoes (I was/am horrible with names)  We have hashed out many things about life and Josh always stood by me.  He is loyal and would stick up for us any day.  I truly am grateful that God has put so many people in my life I can depend on and are amazing friends and brothers.

Tanya has been shopping, and if you don't know deals go out of their way to find her, and has found a great deal on invitations.  Yes we know we will not be mailing them for another 62-73 days but when they jump in your basket and want to be taken home for a few cents how can you say no.  Kort is going to be photographing Tanya (and me unless I can dodge the camera) for our engagement pictures in two weeks (so keep you eye out on our photo album) and also be doing our wedding pictures.  She is very skilled with the camera and we look forward to working with her.  We are currently working on guests lists, the budget, and odds and ends things right now.  Megan Kamp will be designing our save the dates and as we already have a couple of sample, we grow more and more excited to see where Christ will lead us next in this process.  We have decided to have a wedding planner (or gopher/coordinator/wedding day fixer for all you guys).

I think that is all I am going to have time for tonight.  We appreciate your prayers, comments, and thoughts as we continue on this journey.  Please pray the Christ can use us as He has planned.  Thank you again for reading and if I do forget anything feel free to, kindly, remind me and I will make sure I give that update on the next post.

Love
